What Is Chortle?

Have you ever tried Wordle game? If so, you must be familiar with the gameplay of Chortle. This is a Wordle spin-off but with an innovative twist that will keep you entertained.

In particular, the game will ask you a question, and the answer will be the solution word of the day. This is a fun way for English learners to learn new words. Are you excited to explore its gameplay? Keep reading for more!

How To Play Chortle?

When you enter the game, you will see a 4x5 grid. Like in Wordle, you have to figure out a 5-letter word. But this time, you only have 4 tries instead of 5. Another twist is that the system will ask you a question, which gives you a hint to the secret word.

Your job is to find the correct answer to that question, which is also the solution word of the game. Remember that each guess must be a valid 5-letter English word.

To submit your guess, type in the word using the on-screen or your physical keyboard and hit Enter. After that, the tiles will change color to provide players with some clues:

  • A Green tile means that the letter is correct and is placed precisely.
  • A Yellow tile indicates the letter belongs to the secret word. However, you must change its position in the next attempt.
  • A Gray tile shows that the letter isn’t part of the solution word. Don’t reuse it in your subsequent guess.
  • Another thing that sets Chortle apart from Wordle is that you will have a new puzzle every 2.5 hours. This means you can enjoy more games and learn more words in a day.

    Tips For Playing

To win the game with as few guesses as possible, you can apply these tips:

  • First, you should read the question carefully and try to find some possible responses. If there are any complex words, look them up on the Internet. Enter those possible words first to increase the chance of winning. If you’re lucky, you can even win the game on the first try.
  • In case you can’t think of any answer to the question, search for it on Google. The result might be a list of synonyms. You can narrow down the list by selecting only 5-letter words.
